Service Dogs for People with Type 1 Diabetes
Why choose a service dog for people with diabetes from us?
Timely alerts. Life-saving friendships. No cost to you.
If you’re living with Type 1 diabetes, one of our dogs can make all the difference. You’ll gain more than an alert—you gain a loyal partner. Our highly trained service dogs sense shifts in blood sugar often before technology can, giving you the chance to act fast and live with greater confidence. From the moment you’re matched, we’re here for you with training, lifetime support, food, and preventative veterinary care at no cost.
What makes our service dogs extraordinary?
It all begins with top pedigrees, chosen for excellent health and genetics. Training starts at just two days old, and as they grow, our expert instructors spend thousands of hours building confidence and advanced skills through positive reinforcement.
By the time your scent service dog is matched with you, they’ve mastered specialized skills, including identifying dangerous blood glucose changes and fetching medical supplies. With a scent service dog by your side, you’ll find peace of mind, hope, and the comfort of never being alone.
The Home Training Model
With scent service dogs, the most meaningful learning begins at home—right where life happens. By the time your dog comes to you, they’ve already built a solid foundation with training samples and real-life scents from our scent sample participants living with type 1 diabetes. Now, they get to put those skills into practice with real-life alerts with their human partner.
In the first few months together, you and your dog refine alert behaviors, practice in everyday situations, and grow into a true partnership. Support includes:
- In-home training with a Dogs Inc instructor
- Weekly check-ins
- Hands-on help when needed
- Lifelong alumni guidance
This unique model ensures your dog is trained for your life, bringing safety, confidence, and peace of mind every day.
