HURRICANE IAN UPDATE
September 26, 2022
Keeping our dogs safe from the storm.
As Hurricane Ian makes its way toward the west coast of Florida, I’m writing to let you know that we are closely monitoring the situation. Of course, the safety of our dogs, volunteers, and employees is at the forefront of every decision.
As our recent guide dog class graduated this past Friday, there are no students on campus at this time.
This morning, Monday, September 26, we activated our comprehensive hurricane preparedness plan, and we are fully stocked with critical emergency supplies, including plenty of dog food, water, and more.
A skilled crew of employees will take care of our puppies and dogs during the storm on our campus. Our facilities have been built to withstand hurricane winds, in accordance with Miami-Dade building codes. We are equipped with generators; our fuel tanks are full, and we are as prepared as we can be to weather this storm.
Our campus will operate with restricted access Wednesday and Thursday, with selected emergency-plan employees remaining on campus.
Once the storm passes, we will evaluate whether we are in a position to resume normal operations on Friday, and we will provide you with an update as soon as we are able.
I hope you and your family (both two-legged and four-legged) stay safe.
Warm regards,
Titus Herman | Chief Executive Officer
