PB&J Pupcicles
Dogs Inc graduate Shauna English has a reputation for creating yummy homemade dog treats for her retired guide dog, PJ, and is looking forward to making them for her new guide dog, Luna. In the midst of a hot summer, here’s a frozen treat from Shauna’s recipe book, named after “peanut butter and jelly” and after PJ herself. This recipe has been approved by our veterinarian with one word of caution. “These ingredients are safe for dogs but the recipe is high in natural sugar, so use sparingly. Otherwise, it sounds delicious!”
Ingredients for Homemade Dog Treats:
¼ cup natural peanut butter
1 banana
1 cup plain yogurt
1-1/2 cup crushed strawberries (frozen are fine)
Instruction:
In a blender, add peanut butter, banana, and yogurt. Blend until smooth. Pour into dog-themed silicone molds, filling halfway. Freeze for 1 hour. Take the crushed strawberries and layer on top of the peanut butter mixture, filling each mold. Freeze for three hours or until frozen solid. Pop the treat out of the mold and feed your hungry pup…or treat yourself! It makes quite a few, so be sure to share it with your dog’s friends!
