Top Ten Reasons to Raise a Puppy
Our volunteer puppy raisers are a delightful bunch, ranging from high school and college students to working professionals and retirees. You can take home a puppy, too! Here are the top ten reasons to raise a puppy, starting with number ten.

There are many reasons to raise a puppy! Here are our top 10. [Pictured: Young girl sits in the grass with a yellow Lab puppy. The girl has long brown, braided hair, and is wearing a black shirt and blue jeans.]
- Your blood pressure will drop—studies show petting a dog will stimulate the release of endorphins.
- You’ll embark on the most fun weight-loss plan—ever.
- You’ll never be lonely again—you’ll always have a sidekick.
- You’ll become a people magnet.
- Your social network posts will be more memorable than the Kardashians.
- Your social calendar will fill up.
- Your house will never be cleaner. (You have to keep all that stuff off the floor.)
- You’ll always have someone to talk to on road trips—without any backseat driving.
- You’ll be busy, but being “busy” takes on a whole new meaning. (Note: our puppies learn the “busy” command to do their outdoor business.)
- When you say, “The dog did it,” there’s a 50 percent chance that it’s true.
And while these top ten are fun, here are a few more reasons why you might consider joining the pack and volunteering for the heartwarming work of raising a future superhero. First, 94% of our puppy raisers say they want to make a difference. They also want to:
- Love dogs and spend more time with the cutest, youngest variety
- Be part of something important
- Make new friends (Puppy raisers are the nicest people!)
- Pay it forward
- Learn something new
- Fill free time with something meaningful
- Model volunteerism for children
- Embody “community” in every sense of the word
- Profoundly change the life of another person
- Take home a puppy! Because, well…puppy!
If you’re interested in taking home a puppy, we’ll help you take the steps from here to puppy kisses.
